We all love a good Mardi Gras party. But going all the way to New Orleans, or anywhere else that really celebrates it right, is expensive. What if I told you there's a better way to Mardi Gras?

For 16 years now Lubbock Meals On Wheels has been hosting a Mardi Gras party and fundraiser. This year it will be on Tuesday March 1st, which is actually Fat Tuesday, from 5:30-9:00 at the Civic Center. There is so much fun planned I'll just share their press release with you so you can get all the info you need.

"Lubbock Meals on Wheels is presenting the 17th annual Mardi Gras Celebration. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Exhibit Hall. This spectacular event will include more than 37 food booths (with selections from your favorite local restaurants), live jazz music by the Shinn/Turner Dixieland Band, a large silent auction, cash bars plus a variety of activities and prizes. Colorful masks and beads will be available to make the evening even more festive. Everyone will also enjoy entertainment such as dancers, clowns, magicians, and flamboyant decorations in the official colors of purple, green and gold. The expanded Children’s Area includes bouncers, climbers and face & hair painting to keep the kids entertained.

Event tickets are $35 for adults, $10 for children 17 and under, and can be purchased in advance at Lubbock Meals on Wheels, any Select-A-Seat location (service charge applies) or for $40 at the door."
