Everything's bigger in Texas, and in Lubbock we have two of the biggest trees in the state. Yes, I said trees. The plant.

Lubbock has the biggest Honeylocust in Texas- a gigantic beauty that comes in at 60 feet tall with a canopy spread of 80 feet. You can find her on the Texas Tech Campus, or in this adorably earnest and charming Facebook live video:

Lubbock also holds a tie for largest desert willow, which is owed privately somewhere in Tech Terrace. Desert willows are far and away my favorite ornamental tree. They are stunning.

Big shoutout to Texas Tech, who has amazing staff like this gentleman who obviously really cares about our "healthy urban forest". It's nice to hear something positive, isn't it?
