The plays Patrick Mahomes made last season against Denver, and the plays he made this week with the Chiefs have the NFL media frothing at the mouth at how good he can be, like a future MVP candidate. The question now is if Texas Tech head coach and Mahomes' mentor Kliff Kingsbury expects a shoutout during Mahomes' inevitable MVP acceptance speech.

The head coach addressed that possibility, along with the likelihood of a Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl run, at this week's Texas Tech press conference.

"I'm pulling for the quarterback, that's for sure," Kingsbury said when asked by 1340 The Fan about the Chiefs' odds of making the Super Bowl. But the coach wouldn't go all-in on the team. "I've got too many other guys I pull for to pick them as a Super Bowl team, but I hope [Mahomes] continues to play well."

And what happens if when Patrick Mahomes is named MVP?

"I expect some money," Kingsbury said to laughter.

Sunday afternoon, Mahomes made his NFL debut as QB1 for the Kansas City Chiefs. He threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns, while throwing zero interceptions in a 38-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The former Texas Tech star QB looked like an MVP candidate in a system that was tailor-made for his arm and skill set.

He made side-armed throws to his playmaker Tyreke Hill, while getting blasted by a defender.

Hill made the play after the throw, yes -- but that throw was elite.

Mahomes also turned heads by hitting the fullback on a wheel route, dropping a dime right over a defender's head:
