The season opener for the new season of Vh1 Storytellers was taped in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday night. Kings of Leon played a set worthy of a stadium full of music lovers for only a few fans in an intimate setting. Starting off the night with a bit of nerves, it seemed that lead singer Caleb Followill was weary of telling the truth behind the band’s numerous hits. The guys played a musical timeline of songs that brought them fame first in the U-K, then in the United States, like “Taper Jean Girl” and “Molly’s Chambers.” Caleb loosened up after admitting to the crowd that this gig was “nerve-wracking.” The band played all their big hits like “Sex on Fire,” “Use Somebody” and “Radioactive.” Their Storytellers premieres on Vh1 on May 13th.

Nathan Followill described how he knew “Use Somebody” would be a hit:

· TIDBITS FROM THE SHOW: Bass player Jared Followill was all smiles during the show. He attempted to make eye-contact with the other band members while Caleb talked about how each song came to be. He made a few side comments about being the single one in the band, but most were inaudible.

· TIDBITS FROM THE SHOW: Recently recovering from shoulder surgery, drummer Nathan Followill seemed loose in the beginning, but used the “story time” to stretch and relax his shoulder. At one point, he had to get the guys to remind him how one of the songs started. Caleb quickly made a marijuana joke and started the song.

· TIDBITS FROM THE SHOW: Guitarist Matthew Followill never spoke during the set, but was caught grinning during “Knocked Up,” which seemed fitting since he and his girlfriend recently announced that they are expecting their first child together.

· TIDBITS FROM THE SHOW: To end the show, Caleb briefly chatted about how he watched Storytellers growing up. He was always interested in how each artist was inspired to write their songs, and explained how to be able to tell their own story was amazing.
