Last night I was unable to sleep so around 1a.m. I threw on a shirt and climbed in my Caddy CTS ( my favorite extravagance) and went for drive, listening to some of my blues collection on my iPhone. I usually cruise around the loop, windows down just enjoying the night, relaxing and possibly exceeding the speed limit for a stretch of lonely highway late at night.

After a couple of laps I stopped at a local convenience store for some gasoline and a slurpee. On my way into a store a black man approaches me and says "Sir? I ain't beggin or anything but I need a favor. I'm trying to get to Amarillo to be with my mama who has been in a real bad car wreak. All I have is these lottery tickets and no one will cash then in this late. Any chance you could help me?". Sure enough he had a couple of scratch-offs, a winner for 20 dollars and the other 15 dollars.  Honestly, I blew him off told him I had no cash. While in the store I started thinking about and wondering "what if he is being honest?".

I got my slurpee and bought a 10 dollar scratch-off for myself,  went outside and offered to put some gas in his car with my credit card and he was so grateful, almost in tears. He gave me one of his tickets worth 20 dollars and I put 30 bucks in gas in his car for him. I put in a little extra just to make sure he had enough to get all the way to Amarillo, told him God Bless and I went home.

I got to looking at the ticket he gave me and realized that it was in fact a 50 dollar winner not 20! I kinda feel bad because the chances of ever seeing this guy again are slim to none. Stoked about my winfall I scratched the ticket I purchased. 300 Dollar winner I kid you not!

Am I just lucky? Or was my good deed rewarded by some Karmic force? Lucky I'm sure , but it's for sure a coincidence. "Do good things and good things happen" as the saying goes. You might try it. Pay it foward if you will. I can't promise you 300 dollar winners but I can offer you a chance to do something good for another, an action that will make you feel.... well, feel something.
