UPDATE: Since his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, Kanye West has tweeted that he hopes to address a handful of social issues with Trump's help. More cryptically, he finished the collection of tweets with "#2024."

Kanye West stopped by Trump Tower in New York City around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13.

The White House press pool confirmed that the rapper, who in 2015 announced his plans to run for office in 2020, entered the building along with his entourage and videographer, but gave no comment to press.

It's unclear exactly why West visited. However, he did speak to president-elect Donald Trump while in the building, and afterwards appeared in the lobby to take photos with him.

When asked how the two knew each other and what was discussed at their meeting, Trump responded, "We've been friends for a long time...Life, we discussed life."

Meanwhile, West refused to comment on questions about his intentions to run for president in the future, as well as whether he would perform at Trump's inauguration.

"I just want to take a picture right now," he replied, smiling.

In November, West declared that while he had not voted, he "would have voted for Trump."
