Juan Martin Garcia of Houston, Texas is set for execution, and no appeals have been filed in connection with his conviction for robbing and murdering Hugh Solano in 1998.

Solano was a Christian missionary from Mexico who had just moved his family to Houston a few weeks before the incident in order for his children to be educated in the U.S.

Garcia's robbery yielded a mere $8.

Garcia was convicted of capital murder and acknowledges shooting Solano, but says he believes he was unfairly convicted because he didn't take the witness stand in his own defense.

Garcia is linked to several aggravated robberies and two attempted murders.

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to review Garcia's case in March of 2015 and The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles voted 5-2 last week refusing a clemency request from Garcia.

Garcia told The Associated Press: "If it's God's will, it's his will." He's scheduled to be executed by lethal injection in Huntsville.
