Jones AT&T Stadium Loses One of Its Iconic Double Ts [Pictures]
If you've ever gone to a Texas Tech football game, then you've seen it. Even if you've only watched games on TV, you've seen it. The giant double T from the north end of the Jones is now gone.
As a kid I watched a few games from those famous grass seats in the north end zone. We caught field goal balls and missed passes there. Now that whole area is being redone to add even more luxury boxes. But what is happening to the giant double T that graced the lawn? It is gone forever.
According to Totally Texas Tech's Twitter account, the giant double T had to be removed for the expansion of the stadium. Sources say that they tried to save it, but it was so old and crumbly that it had to either stay where it was or be removed completely.
Since the expansion is in full swing and football starts in just a few weeks, they had to remove it. They say it will be relocated, possibly to the same place just lower, but I can't say for sure if it survived the removal or not.
