Jared Leto Is Not Pleased With WB’s Desire to Start Seeing Other Jokers

Jared Leto is like that one dude you date who’s kind of a hot mess. He’s really fun and spontaneous, and sure, okay, he really opens you up to new experiences but his sense of humor is weird as hell and he makes some questionable fashion choices. Let’s say the “you” in this scenario is Warner Bros., and you’ve grown a little weary of Leto’s dubious sense of mischief, and also a little tired of all your friends clowning on him on Twitter — so you float an idea that should appeal to his “free spirit”: An open relationship. He’s free to keep making his Joker movies, and you’re free to see other Jokers.

To your surprise, Jared Leto is UPSET. I would like to present this little gem, buried in The Hollywood Reporter’s feature on whatever the hell Warner Bros. is doing with these Joker movies:

Leto is said to have made his displeasure with the notion of multiple Jokers known to his CAA agents, and rival agency WME has been using the concern to court him.

Not mad. Not angry. Not disappointed. “Displeasure.” He is displeased. And to be honest, that sounds about right for a man who seemingly identifies as “Jesus after an eye-opening trip to China where he fell in love with embroidered silks.”

It’s enough that WB is making another Joker movie in a separate universe (somehow?) with an entirely different actor, one who is almost certainly ignorant about the proper shipping and handling etiquette for dead animals and used condoms. But it’s even worse that WB is bringing in Martin Friggin’ Scorsese to oversee this Other Joker Movie, and they’re courting Leonardo DiCaprio — as if Jared Leto shouldn’t be offended by the notion that he was merely fulfilling some weird former teen heartthrob exploitation fetish. How can Jordan Catalano be expected to compete with Jack Dawson?! He can’t even READ.

Anyhow, Leto’s “displeasure” is only about half as hilarious as WB’s plans to start making Batman and Joker movies outside of the existing DCEU, despite being “acutely aware of the risks of audience confusion.” And though WB is tactlessly flaunting their new Joker side piece in front of him, Leto still has two more movies to look forward to: The Suicide Squad sequel, and a Joker and Harley Quinn romance spinoff from the directors of Crazy Stupid Love, who are definitely not and never will be Martin Scorsese.
