Is This a Problem With Texas Tech Students and Fans?

When I first saw this picture Saturday on Facebook, I was annoyed.

Football fans are generally very passionate about the sport and their teams. BUT when certain fans go to extremes like this, it ruins the fun, teamwork, and everything the sport stands for.

Does that mean that these ‘fans’ are homophobic? We simply don’t know.

Is it in poor taste? Yes, it is — and I would venture to say tacky and trashy as well.

Will people say, ‘it’s just kids being kids’?

Of course, some folks will say that, but these aren’t kids. These are grown men making an offensive statement.

The response will be: ‘Well, they just weren’t thinking.’

That’s just it: THEY WEREN’T THINKING!

Just because you’re young and all hyped up about a game doesn’t give you the right to be offensive, tacky and trashy.

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!

These alleged students/fans have not been identified, but they should be ashamed of themselves. They make Lubbock and Texas Tech University look bad.

When these guys are identified, it could harm their future in many different ways. The internet does not forget.

If they’re acting like this now, can you imagine how they will act in their 30s, 40s or 50s? I don’t even want to know.

The views and opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of Townsquare Media, its employees, sponsors, or advertisers.
