As we all know, trucks are very popular in Texas, especially in Lubbock. So this recall could affect a large number of folks on the South Plains.

Fiat-Chrysler is recalling around 1 million 2013-2016 Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks, along with 2014-2016 Ram 3500 trucks.

The error code associated with the warning may temporarily disable side air bag and seat belt pretensioner** deployment for that ignition cycle, which would then be unavailable in the event of a vehicle rollover. (Deployment suppression is a feature of restraint systems. It serves as a potential safeguard against inadvertent system activation, should a sensor failure actually occur.)

In plain English, this means airbags might fail to deploy and seat belts may not ‘tense’ up in the event of an accident.

The temporary solution is to turn the vehicle off then back on if the warning light comes on.

Customers with these trucks will be notified by FCA when they can come in and have the computer serviced on the vehicle.
