I Did Something Truly Heroic Yesterday, And You Can Too
Do you want to save a life, today? Like, be absolutely certain that you did something truly heroic, truly helpful, truly human? Do you want to know that you helped a premature baby, someone's grandma, or an accident victim? You can, and it's not donating money. It's giving blood.
I love giving blood. It's easy, it's quick, and the people at United Blood Services are so kind and cool. And I get a free soda and snacks!
You can, of course, also donate plasma at places like BPL Plasma and make some money while you're at it. Plasma is a vital part of many medicines that treat diseases like cancer. I am unable to give plasma because I'm allergic to one of the components they have in the fluid that goes back into your body. So I happily give whole blood. UBS has a point system that you can use to get T-shirts and movie tickets.
Want to double your heroism? Bring a buddy with you to donate. I brought my favorite sideshow performer, Drew Blood. Kinda perfect, huh?
I recommend using UBS's Fast Track system, that let's you read everything you should and answer the screening questions before you get there.
United Blood Services is located at 2523 48th Street. Eat a good meal before you go and pat yourself on the back when your done. I'm proud of you!
