On Sunday (Jan. 28), an explosion in Northwest Lubbock occurred inside a family home that was under construction.

Lubbock Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene at 2 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Vinton Avenue. No one was reportedly inside the home when the explosion occurred, causing extensive damage that woke up neighbors.

The home was under construction and still vacant. The Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the explosion.
