Every summer The Today Show hosts the hottest morning concert series that TV has to offer, bringing hundreds of people from all over the world to New York for this unique scene. Today, Usher kicked off the 2012 series. He’s the first of many A-List celebrities lined up for the summer, which includes big names like Chris Brown, Maroon 5, Kenney Chesney, FloRida, The Band Perry, Pitbull, and Justin Bieber. It’s a cool excuse to get out of bed this summer.

This maybe the biggest weekend for movie openings of the summer. Not just one or two good films are opening but four really good openings are all going down this weekend. Tough decisions will be made at the box office this weekend.

“The Dictator” (R) (Opened Wednesday)
Sacha Baron Cohen plays brutal North African dictator ‘Admiral General Aladeen’, who comes to America. But it’s not a mockumentary like “Borat” or “Bruno”, it’s totally scripted. Aladeen goes to New York to address the United Nations, but is forced to live as a commoner after John C. Reilly cuts off his gloriously thick beard . . . and no one recognizes him without it. Anna Faris plays an activist who takes Aladeen in, and Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley plays Aladeen’s treacherous uncle.

“What to Expect When You’re Expecting” (PG-13)
This one has a pretty big cast. It’s about five couples going through the experience of having a baby. The pregnant ladies are Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Banks, and Anna Kendrick. Chris Rock is in it as one of the experienced fathers in a “dudes group” that meets at the park and takes clueless new dads under their collective wing. The rest of the men include Dennis Quaid and “Glee’s” Matthew Morrison.

“Battleship” (PG-13)
“Friday Night Lights” stud Taylor Kitsch and “True Blood’s” Alexander Skarsgard play brothers defending against an alien invasion. Liam Neeson is the commander of their fleet. It also stars Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna in her acting debut. She says, quote, “I didn’t know if I would like it or be good at it. I really enjoyed the experience and I want to do more, try different types of roles so that I can see what I excel in most or like best.” (–Rihanna talks about her acting inspiration here.)
“Battleship” has already made over $215 million. It opened in foreign countries on Sunday, and in some places as early as May 6th.

“Mansome” (PG-13) (Limited)
A manscaping documentary from Morgan Spurlock, the guy who did “Super Size Me”. He talks to random hair and grooming experts, and also gets commentary from Jason Bateman, Zach Galifianakis, Adam Carolla, the Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa, Scott Ian from Anthrax, and ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons.

Even Adele gets stage fright. Adele may have walked away with two Ivor Novello Awards yesterday for her songwriting achievements, but she won’t be headlining one of England’s biggest music festivals because, the organizer says, she finds the idea of performing in front of 80,000 people too “daunting.”

With the Glastonbury Festival taking 2012 off due to the Summer Olympics in London, boss Michael Eavis tried to get a jumpstart on the 2013 lineup by confirming Adele for the annual event. But despite all the fans she could reach and the sizable paycheck a headlining gig on the Pyramid Stage would bring, she declined the invitation.

“She knows that we want her anyway, but she doesn’t want to do a thing our size,” Eavis told The Metro (via MTV U.K.) “Going on the Pyramid Stage is a bit daunting in front of 80,000 people; it’s a bit much really.” He added that he expects her to attend as a fan. “She comes every year usually, and has her own little party.”

Adele won two Ivor Novello Awards yesterday, claiming the Songwriter of the Year prize. She also won Most Performed Work for ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ which prompted her to thank the “drunken karaoke people.”

Adele’s ’21′ is still in the Top 5 and has now surpassed 9 million albums sold in the U.S. Billboard notes that ’21′ has spent 64 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, just eight weeks short of the record for a female artist, held by Alanis Morissette‘s ‘Jagged Little Pill.’ ‘Adele Live in London,’ a one-hour special on NBC, will air on June 3.

The steady tour grind is grueling for artists who are hitting 30 or more cities in a month. So what do artists do to unwind in between shows? Play sports, of course. In the case of J. Cole, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame and French Montana, they pull out the portable rim and play a round of basketball.

During their Albuquerque, N.M. stop on the Club Paradise tour, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka, J. Cole and French Montana play a competitive game of “21,” in which one player is crowned the winner when he reaches 21 points. While the emcees are known for their superior mic skills, they also can handle the ball pretty good on the asphalt.

J. Cole is in his element with this game having been playing basketball through high school and college. As he lands his 17th point in the basket, Waka Flocka shouts, “That boy good. He need to put that mic down. That boy needs a scholarship.”

Waka Flocka is not too shabby with his ball-handling skills either. Meanwhile, 2 Chainz gets double-teamed by Montana and Cole but was able to break away and throw up an air ball.

Overall, it’s good to see some of the top rhyme-spitters play a friendly game of basketball during their downtime. It shows that there’s is camaraderie between the artists despite the competitive nature of the music business. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.

If you read the news yesterday, you’ll know that disco diva Donna Summer sadly passed away at the age of 63 after a battle of cancer. And, like many folks these days, you probably tweeted your condolences. However, as is often the case these days, many Twitter users were a bit confused over which celebrity is actually in the news. 

While we’ve yet to see the usual torrent of “WHO IZ DONNA SUMMER???” tweets, a great many Twitter users have confused the late Donna Summer with ‘Double Dare’ host and Food Network personality Marc Summers. This has led to a flood of jokes about how Summers perished from some sort of unfortunate slime-related accident.

Miley Cyrus sat down for an episode of ‘The Conversation,’ and the wise-beyond-her-years starlet revealed the best advice she would give to her 14-year-old self — the same 14-year-old who was topping the charts and on top of the world as ‘Hannah Montana.’ Her words are tried and true.

“My dad always said it to me,” Cyrus began, “and I never really listened. I would always sweat the small stuff. I think it’s ‘This too shall pass,’” she said. “Something that I so needed to remember that young — even now, if anything happens, it’s the end of the world,” she added. “I think that’s something I need to remember.”

The ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ singer also revealed that she had a major breakup when she was 14 years old that shook her to her core and made her pretty insecure for a while. “I had my biggest heartbreak when I was 14 years old,” she said. “It sounds crazy, because I was 14,” she admitted, “but that’s what love was to me. I was in love with somebody. I was in love with this person that I thought was perfect and so amazing, and when you get your heart broken, that’s all you see,” she said. “‘The rest of my life is ruined because he doesn’t love me back! If he doesn’t think I’m pretty, then I’m not pretty. If he doesn’t think I’m worth his time, I’m not worth anyone’s time.’” Jeez, Nick Jonas, what’d you do to our girl?!

“So I think just ‘This too shall pass’ and ‘It’s not the end of the world,’” she summarized. “It’s not the end of the world until there’s no more pulse. You’ve got to keep going,” she said. “That’s something I always tell myself. It’s kind of generic, but it’s true. It’s a big something to remember.”

Remember “Hot Problems“? For those who don’t, it’s a terrible song in the same vein of Rebecca Black‘s ‘Friday’ – only twice as bad. But now the folks at Bad Lip Reading (BLR) have turned the song by two wannabe pop princesses into “Time To Rock” — and it’s actually worth listening to!

Using the same “putting-the-wrong-words-in-their-mouth” technique that made politicians like Joe Biden and Mitt Romney unintentionally hilarious, BLR makes a song originally about (so-called) problems hot girls face into something we can all enjoy. The remix is more up-tempo and even the “singing” sounds way better than the original.

Some guy who’s either a musical prodigy or someone with way, way, way too much free time on his hands rounded up some drives and programmed them to hum the song, via the magic of Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI).

There’s something transcendent in hearing the drives get their groove on in such a manner. Like, maybe after artificial intelligence becomes self-aware and rids the planet of us pesky humans, the world won’t be all about boring computations and binary logic. Maybe, just maybe, the Cylons will be able to appreciate the fine arts, allowing the human spirit to live on in the form of wacky computer shop octets.

Or maybe not.

Lady Gaga is living it up on the Born This Way Ball tour. The Mother Monster hit the karaoke bar in Tokyo and fraternized with Japanese little monsters, who gifted her with homemade items.

She wore a black, studded bodysuit that would set off airport metal detectors and cause you to lose an eye if you stumbled towards her, leopard or studded platforms (we can’t quite tell) and fishnets.

Thankfully, her pal Terry Richardson was there to capture it all and share it with the global monster legion.

Gaga sang “I want your leather-studded kiss in the sand” in ‘Bad Romance’ and she certainly wore a heavy duty leather studded outfit while doing karaoke. She’s rivaling Judas Priest singer Rob Halford for the most studs and leather on a single item of clothing.

Take a peak at the gifts that the little monsters made for her. They are so cute and feature Gaga-centric symbols — like unicorns, dagger nails, crosses and more. There’s never been any question that the little monsters are a creative bunch, but their dedication is inspiring. It takes a long time to make crafts such as these.

The Mother Monster may be far, far away but she feel so close to home, thanks all of this photographic evidence.

Last night, Conan O’Brien visited ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ – his first appearance on that show in over 13 years and his first late-night appearance since being fired as host of ‘The Tonight Show.’ Naturally with their combined dislike of Jay Leno, you could see where the interview would be going…

It didn’t take long before Letterman brought up Jay Leno with Conan who quipped he had no idea the topic would come up.  Said Conan of their interview and the eventual Leno discussion:

“You know [Leno is] watching right now. He’s getting a live feed in a satellite truck right now, watching every second.”

For his part, Letterman said he was “delighted” by everything that went down with Leno, Conan and ‘The Tonight Show’ with the exception, of course, of Conan losing his job.  They each did their Leno impressions – the squeaky voice, the head bob, etc. – and generally had a few laughs at ‘The Tonight Show’ host’s expense. All in good fun (ahem).

Not only are Justin Bieber and Usher good friends, they are also competitive as well. When the R&B crooner held his one-day run in the off-Broadway production of ‘Fuerza Bruta’ to preview his new album ‘Looking 4 Myself,’ Biebs came through to support his boss.

While Bieber thought he was there to enjoy a show, Usher had other intentions. Midway through his performance of ‘Scream,’ Usher challenged Bieber to a dance battle for dance-floor supremacy. “[We] brought him to the middle of the dance floor, and we got it in,” he recalls to MTV News. “But we always show support for each other like that. We was housing a little bit.”

Usher takes great pride in watching Bieber evolve into a pop superstar. At 18 years of age, Bieber has been able to achieve his dreams and surround himself with some good people. “Cool part about it is, he’s really able to live a dream that I think most teenagers would want to,” says Usher. “To be able to have friends like [Floyd] Mayweather — they are actual friends, hang out, talk — it’s really cool to be able to have friends all around the world and people that can relate to your reality.”

“I don’t think Michael [Jackson] had people like that,” he continued. “I didn’t have a ton of people like that. I had Puff. I had JD [producer Jermaine Dupri] … but to be able to have friends all around the world that keep you, it’s cool.”

Sadly, Usher reveals that a Justin Bieber and Usher duet is still in the works. “We actually have the first phase of both of our albums, which the song will not be featured there but stayed tuned,” he said. “We want to make sure it’s perfect. Neither one of us wanted the hoopla of it just being a publicity moment. When it’s finished it’s going to be an incredible [song].”

Many successful couples say the secret to keeping the fire burning is not spending too much time together so that absence has the chance to make the heart grow fonder. Kristen Stewart, however, apparently didn’t get the memo.

She says she’d love to make more movies with her boyfriend and ‘Twilight‘ co-star Robert Pattinson — maybe even the film adaptation of the steamy bestseller, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’

The hit novel was inspired by the roles Stewart and Pattinson play in the ‘Twilight’ franchise, and it tells the story of a student who falls for a wealthy entrepreneur who lures her into his erotic world of S&M. Universal recently bought the film rights to the book, and although Stewart hasn’t read it, she’s certainly heard about it.

Asked by Celebuzz if she and Pattinson would consider co-starring in the flick, Stewart replied, “I’m dying to make another movie with Rob, I think that we’re a good team. I think whatever it is needs to be so ridiculously ambitious. So maybe! I just haven’t read it, so I don’t know what it is, but I would love to work with him again.”

But before that happens, she’s focused on ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ which hits theaters June 1. Talking about playing the lead role of Snow White — who’s re-imagined as a strong, gusty warrior — Stewart said she thinks girls sometimes rely too much on a relationship to make them happy.

“It’s super on-trend right now to have strong girl power movies. I think it’s cool [Snow White] feels like such a girl, yet she’s super strong. The whole guy situation — it’s a war movie,” she said. “Things are happening way too fast to even consider a love triangle. Everyone thinks, ‘What’s happening with the Prince, Huntsman, and Snow White?’ It’s like, are you kidding me? We’re all at war! It doesn’t matter right now.”

If you ask most people, they will tell you they’re good in bed, but obviously that doesn’t mean they really are. If your bedroom isn’t the hotbed of activity you wish it was, here are five signs that may explain why your sleeping alone.

#1.) You’re Really Quiet. (I hate this one.) You don’t have to wake up the neighbors. But you shouldn’t be silent either. You have to give your partner some sign that he or she is doing everything to your liking. I understand that just because your are not making any noise does not mean that your not going crazy inside, but you have to communicate your pleasure or lack there of with your partner.

#2.) Your Bedroom Is a Mess. This should be a no brainer. No one wants to get romantic in a room that smells like a locker room. Dirty cups on the nightstand and wet towels in the floor? No Way! Clean up, light a candel and hide the dirty clothes.

#3.) It Takes You Fifteen Minutes Just to Prepare. Women are usually the ones who do this, and as a guy I will tell you that this one drives me crazy. If you have to shower, brush your teeth, take out your contacts, and wash your face before you get busy, chances are you will have lost the moment. Timing and spontinuity are key when it comes to really passionate sex.

#4.) You Act Like It’s a Favor. This one’s mainly for women too: Look girls if your not into just say so. A guy will understand and totally respect your wishes. Sex should be equally satisfying for all envolved not just one person. That’s not fair.

#5.) You Jump Out of Bed the Second It’s Over. Do this fellas and you will suffer. Girls hate this. They would rather lay in a cold, wet bed with chocolate syurp and whip cream covered sheets (yeah thats how I roll!) for an hour after just holding one another before they would just jump up and call it good. It’s important to them, so do it! You should be thankful that you found a girl willing to go to bed with your dumb ass!

The same crap they do when they’re inside your house. A researcher did a study about what cats do when they’re outside the house cavorting around. Guess what? They chase things, they get into spots their not supposed to be in, and they climb stuff. Yeah that’s exactly what they do inside the house.

The one part of this I really love is when the researcher said that the majority of cats “experienced at least 1 risk behavior” when they’re out. Really? What the hell is considered a risk behavior when it comes to cats? Try everything.

I’m sure by now most of you have heard of “50 Shades Of Grey.” It’s that book that women are reading everywhere and its super-dirty. I haven’t read it, but after this I just might. Of course maybe I’ll just let Gilbert read it to me. He’s got the sexiest voice.
