Driving around Lubbock during the recent winter storms and observing the horrible driving I saw made me wonder if Texas was home to the country's worst drivers.

I witnessed everything from snow-nuts in parking lots to tailgaters to guys in pickup trucks doing 60 mph down The Loop simply because they were in a truck. I saw a lot of accidents, too -- mostly involving (you guessed it) trucks!

Growing up in San Antonio and having traveled to all corners of the Lone Star State, I've seen just how bad people drive in cities like Houston and Dallas and how awful the traffic is in Austin.

However, you'll be happy to know that the great state of Texas doesn't have any cities in the top 10 of a new list of cities with the worst drivers. Dallas does comes in pretty close at number 15.

According to a Thrillist poll, the top five worst cities for driving are:

  1. Boston
  2. Washington, DC
  3. Baltimore
  4. Philadelphia
  5. San Francisco

Both Austin and Houston round out the top 20.
