Amidst all the clown hysteria, it was only a matter of time before Lubbock was infiltrated by the creepy clown craze.

Last night, Tuesday, October 4, Rush Elementary School had its own appearance of a creepy clown according to Lubbock Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Ray Mendoza.

Lt. Mendoza confirmed to KFYO News Wednesday afternoon that Lubbock police had received a call about a clown sighting.

"We have had one report of an alleged clown sighting spotted outside of Rush Elementary School (4702 15th St) last night. Face painted & wearing turquoise sweater," said Lt. Mendoza via email. "Officers responded and didn’t locate anyone or a clown."

Mendoza added that the department is "aware" of the "Lubbock Clownz" Facebook page and are "investigating."

Earlier this week, Texas Tech Police received a call about a person dressed as a clown on campus. And Tuesday night, someone posted a picture on Facebook of a person in full clown costume at Brashear Park in Levelland.

"We encourage citizens to call us if they see someone dressed as a clown and feel threatened or uncomfortable," said Lt. Mendoza.
