Cody will ride again.

After Texas Tech's #1 horse, Fearless Champion, suffered a leg injury, the school scrambled to find a fill-in horse that could not only match Fearless' jet-black color, but also handle the physical rigor of a football game and mental stress of performing in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans.

Thankfully, they found the perfect candidate in Cody, who will continue to fill in for the injured Fearless Champion this Saturday against the University of Houston.

Texas Tech will have "Cody" once again filling in as the Masked Rider horse Saturday afternoon in place of "Fearless Champion," who is still recovering from an injury. Cody made his debut in the Lamar game after a week of preparation with Masked Rider Lyndi Starr and Dr. Sam Jackson, a professor in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

The Masked Rider also approved of Cody, writing on Facebook: "Sometimes he seems a little unsure, he’s mostly acting like an old pro. Seems to me that he is a true Red Raider at heart!"

Cody's debut for Texas Tech's 2018 home opener against Lamar paved the way to a 77-0 win for the Red Raiders. And though fans later learned Cody has Aggie roots, it won't dull their excitement for his triumphant gallop across The Jones this weekend.
