Black Panther is still lit at the box office. For the second week in a row, the Marvel comic book flick is the No. 1 movie in the world and is still breaking records.

Black Panther earned $108 million domestically and $191 million worldwide during the three-day weekend. After 12 days of release, Black Panther has netted $704 million globally, according to comScore, which tracks box office receipts.

“Never in a million years did we imagine that you all would come out this strong. It still humbles me to think that people care enough to spend their money and time watching our film," said Black Panther director Ryan Coogler in an open letter to his fans. "But to see people of all backgrounds wearing clothing that celebrates their heritage, taking pictures next to our posters with their friends and family, and sometimes dancing in the lobbies of theaters, often moved me and my wife to tears.”

At this point, Black Panther has unequivocally shattered the myth that films with a predominately black and female cast don't fare well at the global box office. Quite simply, if you make a great movie with a great cast, they will come -- domestically and globally.

If Black Panther continues it's dominance, it's destined to be the newest member in the $1 billion movie club. The last film to achieve this plateau was Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017.

Meanwhile, Chadwick Boseman will be returning as Black Panther in Marvel's upcoming Avengers sequel, Infinity War, which is due to arrive in theaters on May 4.
